Cementerio Ingles de Bella Vista, Rio Tinto
I saw a thread from 2010 where there was discussion of English cemeteries in Huelva. One was described in a way that suggested that the poster (fionamw) was inquiring about the English cemetery in Minas de Rio Tinto (37 deg 41'56.21"N 6 deg 35'39.96"W). However, she may have been inquiring about another English cemetery that's in or near Huelva itself. I can't PM her directly just yet as I'm new here as of today.
Be that as it may, I visited the cemetery in Rio Tinto in 2009 and recorded all the grave marker inscriptions. Someday I'll upload them all to Find A Grave which does not feature the cemetery from what I can tell. If anyone now is curious about anyone interred there I'd be happy to get out my notebook and tell them if I recorded anything for them. For now, sloth reigns supreme on the larger project.
I'm an American whose parents lived there from 1926-31, my father being one of the metallurgists there. They next were in N. Rhodesia till after the war.
I'm happy to report how delightful the Guardia Civil were when I made inquiries about the location of the residence of the parental units. The house was later a barracks for some Guardia and I thought that might ring a bell with the younger lot. Alas, it didn't, perhaps because the mines expanded and swallowed part of the town. I make it sound like a science fiction movie. Anyway, they knew of an older woman in a nearby town who was something of a local historian and they hopped in one of their cars and escorted me to her home some 6km away so that I might inquire of her. She was away unfortunately.
The ladies at city hall were equally delightful and located the birth certificates for two of my siblings, now late.
All very ancient history alas, and redolent of times very different from our own..
Cheers to my British cousins, of whom I have many fond memories from southern Africa days.

Fiona has not been on BE since August 2017 so there would be no point in sending a message to her.

Thank you, Rosemary. I was afraid of that.
