Hi,
I would recommend http://www.opencar.es/en/index.php
I have used them many times.
Very good rates, from 99€ per week.
You can book by phone or on line.
No standing in line at arrivals.
Just go through arrivals and a man / woman will meet you with the keys.

Although not 100% sure I think using a credit card is compulsory all over Spain.
You may be able to get round this by getting a prepaid card.
Try speaking to Carjet (01279 770450) who I use for my car hire, they are always helpful
Good Luck

I usually use Javea Cars and I have paid with a Visa Debit card and cash before. They are also worth considering as they may agree to not charging for a full tank of petrol. I always pay for a 1/4 tank and return the car 3/4 full. However they may only agree to that if you are staying in or near Javea as it requires a 1/4 tank to travel to the airport, so you fill up before you leave.

Some companies will just take your debit card, without checking to see if it is a CC. This worked for me for years. I was only questioned about it once, but stated I had alway use the DC to pay, so they accepted it; but told me it should be a CC.
The reason they normally don't accept DC is, that any damage/fines incurred whilst you have the car cannot be claimed by the car hire company without you being present to authorise the charge. With a CC you do not have to be present.
Be wary of anyone accepting cash payment, for the same reasons. It is not uncommon for people to be duped into believing they are hiring a car from a reputable legal company, only to find out later (and to their cost) that the car is not a hire car, but rented by someone who is on the make and not legal.
