I have asked the moderators to move your post to the Spain forum as it is Spain specific.
Welcome to BE, please have a quick read of the rules, pale bar at the top.

As a resident, guest or staff member?

Resident. - All I was told was it was dormitary sleeping (people snoring. ugh!) & "It is not a prison" !!!
And it could be anywhere in Andalucia. I would rather stay in Mijas. On the other hand, the alternative is "on the beach" where i have been for the last 18 months.!

Why do you wish to live in Care Home accommodation? When you say the alternative is the beach, what do you mean by that? You are on the group anonymously so perhaps be a little more open and you may then receive more appropriately tailored advice/information.

Grim as they might be, I suspect that Care Homes for the Elderly in the UK are better than the alternative in Spain. But then the OP might not be eligible in UK since (s)he has not been "habitually resident" in that jurisdiction

Who says they are grim? The ones I have seen have been fine and totally acceptable.

Are we not all here anonymously?

No, many of us have completed their profile page, which, although not giving the actual name of the user does give us a lot of information about the background, and therefore information that may help to give specific information.

My point is, that we take in good faith what is written here, what someone may claim about themselves or the advice they might give.
That does not mean that it is correct.

To say that one person has posted anonymously is, in my opinion, accusatory given that we all do.

I have a different take on the post. I see it as encouraging the poster to open up more because they have anonymity here so it is possible to talk freely without anyone knowing who they are.

So two different interpretations which goes to show how difficult it can be at times with the written word.

That's a different interpretation indeed and one that hadn't occurred to me.
Hopefully the OP will take it in that vein.

Yes, and that is why some spammers might just not get picked up, if they just join in in a general discussion. Thankfully the vast majority aren't clever enough.

Thank you for your replies, but I have just been told that I am not eligable for a Care home, as I cease to be a European Citizen from Jan 1st.
