Default car tax and change of address

hi

we have recently moved and our car tax is due. we have not yet informed them about our change of address as we are not sure where we need to go.

we live in torremolinos.

does anyone know how we change the address to which the car is registered?

many thanks in advance

Yeah the town hall, they set the amount due to be paid and they all have different prices, we pay for all the untaxed Brit cars over here as well. :curse:

Que?

What?

So all the (illegal) Brit cars being driven around here can come to your town hall for dispensation!

I just meant our tax is very high and i think they are adding a bit on to cover for the UK plated vehicles that are dodging paying tax.

The UK cars around here are all displaying valid UK tax discs, so they must be paying their taxes. Or is there another way?

They should be taxed, mot`d, and insured in UK as they are still under UK rules when out of the UK.
But they can only be driven in Spain for 6 months and only by a UK resident.

I know a lot of people who live in Spain for half the year and back in the UK for the second half. Are they expected to import their car into Spain every time they arrive and then import it back into the UK when they return? And then do the same the following years and the year after?

Some laws don’t make sense and should be ignored.

As for the loss of revenue to Spain, it’s miniscule, dwarfed by black money in the economy. Every time the owner of such an ‘illegal’ UK car shops in Spain, he will more than pay for the piddling amount he should maybe be paying to Suma for his car tax.

And have you seen the prices of second-hand cars in Spain?

If you read the DVLA site it explains the laws on taking a car out the UK temp or full time.
Some people think every law is crazy, imagine what it would be like if they were all ignored.

No need to debate it , if they read the export laws, or search one of the 400 threads on it.
