Car insurance for teenager.

Can anyone tell me if car insurance is as expensive in S[pain as it is in the U.K? My 17 year old wants to have a mini when he's old enough to drive and has been quoted £1400 a year over here. Any info?:D

Over here its the car that is insured, usually any driver over 30 is covered, with excess added for below that age.
UK no claims is taken into consideration, so get a certificate of your insurerer when you move.

My 17 year old son had quotes from £2k to £7k for a Ford Fiesta (in the UK). He bought it off his cousin who only paid £1200 (female). 17 year old boys are very high risk - I think it reduces considerably after one year of no claims.
