Default Car Insurance

Hello people
Does anyone know if it is a legal requirement to have your spanish car insured even when off the road on private land. It is not a UK car. It is a Spanish purchased car but is not being used. Its in our property that we have been unable to get to due to C19. We think they have tried to take the money from the bank but there were not enough funds in the bank to cover it.
thanks

Yes it is and you can be fined for not having insurance. Specifically you need third party cover . Fines go from €600 - €3.000 . The only solution is to temporarily "deregister" ( dar la baja ) it.

Probably easier to transfer sufficient funds and get the premium paid.

It also needs to have a current ITV and road/vehicle tax paid

Thanks for the replies. The car has been sat in the garage for 2-3 years & insurance has come out of bank automatically every year. Unfort let the bank run low on funds. We have never driven it & would have sold it in 2020 but due to C19 we really could not get over to organise.
