Yes more expensive but it does contain breakdown recovery. first breakdown and you will save your costs immediately. There is no towing allowed in Spain.

Yes, we were out with friends, and when we went back to their car, there were the keys, still inside the cr with the doors locked, no problem, call to the insurance company, someone was there within the hour and had the car unlocked. Luckily we were parked at a hotel, so had to pass the time in the bar..

As Concierge for the Spanish section of BE I would like to say hello and welcome.

BE is a very large expat website, so if you have problems finding your way around we have concierges who will try to direct you. The moderators for the Spanish forums are Mitzyboy and Fred James, moderators are there to ensure that the site runs smoothly within the rules of BE. Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderador who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge of the issues of living in Spain. At the top of the page you will find a quirkily named thread called Free Beer which is full of important and useful information. Hope you enjoy your time participating in the forums.

Please let me know if you need any further help.

Remember that in Spain the vehicle is insured not the driver as in UK. So anyone is covered to drive, albeit, that depending on their driving record and age the excess may be higher when they are driving.

And as said, towing in Spain is not permitted except in case where there is danger and then a vehicle may be towed to a safer position.

Times are changing, my car was covered for myself and the wife only with Ibex.
Plus of course a reduction in price.

Interesting. Last week my husband called his broker to confirm that I (I just exchanged my DL for a Spanish one) would be covered, yes I was. He asked if his two sons (adults) would be covered when they come on holiday, yes there were.

He took out the policy in January of this year. It is full comp. He did not ask for cover for more than himself, the other drivers were automatically include. We will call the broker on Monday to clarify.

I want a quote online not for someone to phone me back. Plus they didn´t even have the up to date model of my car. Not impressed.

Elaine it is normal for the car to be insured for any driver, however Ibex are offering named drivers only as an option.

Is it possible to reduce the cost by restricting the drivers?
