Car Hire / Purchase?
 

Hi Guys,
My folks have just completed a circumnavigation and have arrived in Gibralter, Dad plans to stay on the boat in Southern Spain for the winter and head back to the U.K overland in the spring. He's talking about hiring a car & driving from Almerimar back to the U.K.
A couple of questions;

Can you hire a car in Spain & drive it to the U.K?
Would it be cheaper to buy an older car and drive that back?

You can hire a car to do that but make sure about the insurance cover includes UK.
If he bought a car in Spain he would need an NIE number, that is like an ID number so the taxman can see what you spend. :sneaky: :D
Also there is a residency problem if he stays in Spain for more than 3 months, but if he returns to the UK in the middle he should avoid that. :thumbup:

My folks used to have a villa in Spain and did that all the time - no idea how much it costs but I think it was expensive. I think they have used Easyjet. Here's the link where you can get a quote on-line:-
