Just wondering if anyone can recommend a local car hire for the Alicante region?

While I can't advise re a local firm in Alicante, I can tell you to avoid GOLDCAR at any cost. The stories of their rip-offs, dodgy cars and terrible treatment of their customers are legion.

Must admit, i have used Goldcar many times and had no problem, cheapest of the hire company's.

got one feb this year 73 euro for the month picked up from airport was with solmar no extras on top.

I generally use doyouspain out of Valencia. They are a broker and consistently the cheapest.
You do need to watch out for differing excesses depending on the car hire company. Also consider the extra insurance for wheels and glass for total peace of mind.
