Try

http://www.libercasa.com/espana/inmobiliaria

Which is a country wide listing which takes you to local estate agents.

I have had a spell in hospital in UK and in spain. I would suggest you should have no concern regarding the quality of healthcare in spain.

With EHIC card or as a pensioner, health care is free.

Yes, heard some good reports, friend of ours had an op in Granada, and they were very pleased with the treatment. One of the differences seems to be in after care, even though she was private, she was expected to look after him, see to all his needs.

In spain relatives are expected to provide personal care, although care will be provided when a patient has no relatives or they are .......... I prefer this system.

When in UK, the relatives of the patient in the next bed were asked to take his dirty washing for laundering. They expected the hospital to do it and made quite a fuss. The nurse took the laundry away and even appologised to them

I`d say that was inacurate going from what Spanish friends with cortijo`s say, they call any small house in the campo a cortijo and refer to larger ones as casa`s ,or maybe it`s a regional thing.

A bit like in the UK, where a house in the country might be referred to as a farmhouse, lodge, cottage etc. What does it matter anyway?

Calling a 2 bed campo house a Cortijo is only done by British ex-pats and estate agents. It would sound very pretentious to a spaniard. Bit like owning a cottage in the UK and calling it a mansion or a country estate with lots of land. I have only heard spanish owners who own property in the country call them "casa" or "finca".

Back to topic. Seems you can buy a house for 70K in both countries, but would you really want to? In the UK you could be living next to a housefull of illegal immigrants or in Spain gypsy squatters. Different if you are going to rent. I would go for the UK though. With the generous rent allowance it will always be rented. In Málaga the number of renters with long-term arrears is 30%+
