We have a very exposed "verandah" or roofed terrace or whatever you care to call it....have long thought about sealing either end but that would be (a) expensive and (b) probably contrary to building permissions etc.
Anyone know where to get the strong canvas & 'windowed' wall type thingies they use for the exterior sections of cafes, restaurants, etc? ?? Or how much they might cost? It would be something either like a mega strong roller blind or equivalent....

You could give this place a call on Monday. They're based in Valencia though, so you may find it better to check prices locally before ordering stuff to be sent down to you. The price list on the website are available in pdf downloads if you need them ( just for clarification I helped a spanish friend set up this website, that friend knows the owner, so I don't know the owners of Anella directly and have never met him. Afraid I can't vouch either way as to service or price - you'll have to make that judgement yourself).

http://www.anellasl.com/

Edit: Looking again at the pdf files, I can't see any external screens or awnings. Despite the blurb "sistemas de protección solar para interior y exterior". Maybe a phone call or email (both on website) will confirm if they sell that type of thing
Double Edit : Probably better to ignore my post and link -sorry if you've wasted any time looking it up. Different things - solar protection for windows as opposed to wind/rain protection

our local bar got theirs from the local toldos shop..........

not cheap though - think low 1000s rather than high 100s

Local Toldos shop did ours, 2.5m high and 3m wide about half windowed, it turned out to be a real sturdy, professional job. 400€ fitted. Have a look around, round here there are several outlets doing them.

that's pretty good - did that include the framing & a 'roof'?

our bar had to have a complete frame, retractable roof, 3 sides & one of those has a zip up door

I'm sure they said it was at several grand....

It seemed the going rate, similar quote from three places. it's just a simple up and down, no roof needed and a single panel.
I can see that the "Bar" type structure could start to be expensive

yes - that explains the difference - a single panel as opposed to almost a room!

Ours are two ends of a long terrace/verandah (never did know what to call a covered-in bit outside the front of a house!) .... anyway, one is from a sloping roofline down to a tiled half-wall, about 3.1m long by 2.1 down to 1.3 - it's that diagonal I anticipate being the problem. The other is about 4m long by about 3.5m high at one end, 2.5 the other (again sloping top).... not sure if we want it 'windowed' or not - might not do an old molino any favours! But 400 for a biggish one sounds not unreasonable - and wind does whistle through these 'ere parts..... even in June, this year

Nice site! I was about to suggest here, that it may be a business option to look into, if noone else could provide this service. Kudos to your daughter and her husband, for setting up such a venture in a foreign land!

Thank you for that I'll tell them you like the site.
Our son-in-law is Spanish so it's not a foreign land to him and he probably has more contacts in the business than he would have if he was an expat.
Their work is of a very high standard and Marco does all the installs himself, be it in luxury villas, boats, home cinemas or palaces.....I even let him make my own curtains and blinds.

Just came across this directory site, which may be of use to someone. Doesn't look like the best designed site, but at least it may be a start for someone.
