buying in spain

Re: buying in spain
It could be nearly two years. If you arrive in Spain in July 2019, the earliest you could submit a tax return is May 2021 for the tax year 2020. It's unlikely that even if you register on Form 030 that AEAT will give you a tax residence certificate with having made a declaration.

Why can't I do a return for 2019 in June 2020? Surely it's my choice (a silly one but possible)

We are not talking about you - you have been tax resident for ages. The OP has yet to move to Spain and he cannot submit a tax declaration until hWee becomes tax resident.

You might want to get a quote for medical insurance. It can be prohibitively expensive for those with pre-existing condition.

Re: buying in spain
Another of our options once we sell up in UK is to live in the motorhome full time and travel to Europe and register that we are still UK resident , so hopefully still be eligible for prescriptions . Would this be possible , who would I have to contact , has anyone done this ?

Could you clarify whether you plan to base yourself in the UK an make a lot of journeys to other countries or whether you are planning to leave the UK and live permanently in another country.

The advantage of being resident in Spain before brexit are if there is a deal done along citizens rights as currently proposed then being fully and legally resident gives you certain protection to remain, health care and UK pension rights. If your question is does anyone have a clue re brexit and issues it could throw up say in a no deal scenario I would say no one actually knows clearly, in that I would include those at the helm i.e. politicians.

The advantages will be different for each individual and location in Spain. It still isn't clear if it will happen, or if there will be any restrictions after Brexit. People earning £ might pay more for a property today but maybe the exchange rates will be worse next year, so you're better off buying today etc. Typical British areas might see prices drop, or prices could increase in other parts (depends what type of property). Nobody knows really and we all have different reasons for buying, renting and so on. Luckily my salary is paid in € and I have an EU passport.
