Hi and welcome Noreen. You might want to try posting the same message in the Spanish section of the forum. Barclays bank do foreign mortgages, just got ours through the French branch in Nantes,I would assume they have branches in Spain too. Good luck....... Ree

Hi Noreen

I am new to this forum and have just come accross your post. I am also living in Ireland and have bought a property in Marbella last year. I found it very hard to arrange finance in Spain especially with the language barrier. Eventually i used a company called Rossbank to arrange my mortgage i found them very helpful and they are based in Ireland so everything is done through English.

I think it may be useful to check out their website www.rossbank.com

Hope this helps!

Depends on whether you are in NI or Ireland. Ireland(the south) is a member of the Euro, and mortgage rates weill be the same as in Spain. Northern will have the same mortgage rates as the UK, whch are higher than the Euribor.

My sister bought a holiday home here through a finance plan they had for buying their home in Ireland (The North) and it was a load plan done through the BofI. It was set up for their NI home but they had a lot of it paid off, all they did was applied for a withdrawal which put the plan back to where it was when they started it. The BofI didn't seem too interested what the money was for. Now I am saying all this on several conversations I had with my sister so the details might not be exactly right but it is the general jist of things.

Maybe best to talk to your BofI manager and see what they say, at the same time ask around and see what is offered and what is best for you. If you have a Bank here in Spain then it might be worth talking to them as well.
:)
