Default Buying property in Ibiza as non-resident?

My partner and I are performers and travel all over the place. We'll be in Ibiza at least 2 days a week for the peak season going forward so we've decided we should base ourselves there for at least part of the year for quality of life reasons (reduce travel). We should be OK with the 90/180 day rules purely from other work commitments in the UK+US.

I guess it's essentially a long term holiday home but the numbers work if we can get reasonable rates. Totally aware of the risks and costs of buying property in Spain.

Has anyone gone about this process recently? I'm assuming finance would have to come from the UK? any idea on rates?

Thanks

M

I have several friends who have / are in the process of buying a holiday home with the intention of abiding by 90/180 rules.

Be very careful with your dates. Another friend exceeded the 90 days and has been banned for returning to Schengen for three years :-(

I doubt you will be able to obtain a UK mortgage for property purchase in Spain. You can check the current rates for providers in Spain on line.

Presumably because he could not leave without showing his passport.

That was a pretty stupid question.

you can leave without your passport. When I worked seasons in Ibiza people lost their passports all the time and had them stolen. You can get an emergency passport or apply for a new one.
