Buying in Mojacar
Hi
We're heading over to Mojacar and La Duquesa late this month with the intention of buying ourselves a bolt hole in the environs of one. What's the current market like - is it still a buyers one? What sort of percentage below asking price are we likely to achieve? We don't want to be cheeky but don't want to out do ourself! Thanks Maura & Tim |

Thanks Maura & Tim Sorry do not know much about Mojacar property prices but along the Spanish costas I think it is still very much a buyers market Do your research as you would in the UK - beware of estate agents as most are dodgy and far worse than what you may be used to in UK Some tips 1. How long has the property been on the market 2. Ask some locals / neighbours 3. Offer as much as 30% below asking price - you can always negotiate up 4. Make sure ALL searches are done 5. Ask the locals for a recommended solicitor (do not accept an offer from estate agents) 6. Before you travel find an international solicitor in UK who knows about Spanish property and have chat (simple web search will find loads) 7. Take a look at this link https://www.gov.uk/guidance/how-to-b...perty-in-spain Research, research and research again and do not commit or hand over any money to anyone until you are 100% certain and all research has been complete. only give deposits (or any monies) to your solicitor to hold - not estate agents or owners Good luck |

Re: Buying in Mojacar
I live in Mojacar Playa on and off during the year. It is still a buyers market. When you visit anyplace keep your eyes open as there are loads of properties for sale even within the same complexes. What the seller and the buyer deem to be a fair current price is not necessary the same amount.
I wouldn't get involved in a bidding war, but I would observe what's on offer as the price between a ground floor and first floor apartment on the same complex could be €20,000 depending on location, view, position, aspect, size, etc. You've got to see what is right for you and if it costs a couple of grand more or less, you have the call. |
