Just out of interest, how do you go about re-registering a foreign (e.g. french) LHD car in Spain? Is it any different from registering an RHD one.
Sorry do not know the answer to that question. My LHD Car purchased from Kilrush cars was ex Belgium lease car, imported into UK and placed onto UK plates. I then owned it for 6 months before driving to Spain and registering in the normal manner (using an excelllent lady called Amanda). Cost in total about 750euro. Saved myself 80euro by having a Certificate of Conformity with the car which meant no need for an ITV technical inspection report (just had to put it through the ITV). |

No difference the paperwork will be the same...we done it with a LHD from The Netherlands. I do not understand what cymruambyth means by "Saved myself 80euro by having a Certificate of Conformity with the car which meant no need for an ITV technical inspection report (just had to put it through the ITV)." An ITV is a roadworthy test so if the car is over a certain age it will need to go through the ITV. The test is less than 80€ |

If you don't have a certificate of conformity, the vehicle has to be inspected by an engineer to ensure it is as it left the factory. This is before it can be put through an ITV.

I ask as I sold my LHD car to a dealer. It was on their site for twice as much as they paid me. You can order a LHD from some UK main dealerships. IF you can find out if they are stuck with any, you might get a bargain, and not pay the inflated prices the LHD boys ask. Have you considerd buying in Germany? The € is now moving in your favour, can you wait a while? Do try to get the COC as it could save time in Spain. Good luck. J. |

Hi Chiclanagir,
Yes read the local "Baywatch" and look for the add "LHD 4 Spain", both Gilly & Sjoren are trustworthy. If you are looking to do it yourself, send me a pm again and I will send you our costs and procedures; Mike & I have done over 200 cars There is no difference between re-plating LHD or RHD except perhaps the lights. However a LHD van is a different matter and should be considered impossible. Davexf |
