Default Buying from Amazon

I imagine there must be somewhere within the Amazon site but it's not the most user-friendly in my view - plus I've never actually bought anything!! When you buy through Amazon from outside the UK, do you go to .co.uk, or .com, or does everything appear in whatever currency you request regardless of which site you go to?
Yes I'm asking out of personal interest, but it intrigued me when I started to think about it....

We only buy from the UK site, bought from there whilst living in UK so just kept the account going. Cannot tell you whether the currency is automatically changed as we pay using a UK account in stirling so do not have that issue. Some things cannot be sent to Spain but postage is free on orders over 24 pounds if it is from Amazon but some of the extra sellers charge the earth so check the postage at checkout prior to confirming your order.

Like Rosemary we use the UK site and pay in stirling.
You do have to watch out for the market place sellers though, on delivery to Spain some of them charge £20.....per item not per delivery!

That is the title that I could not think of.

I cannot remember what it was that I wanted to order but one item cost 3 times as much again for postage, needless to say I did not order it. Apart from buying books and DVD´s I use Amazon a lot as a price guide and only buy what I cannot buy locally or if the item is much more expensive in Spain.

Yes I know just what you mean, it's so easy to be caught out and comes as a shock when you see the end price!
I now ask friends to bring over what I can't get here or from Amazon directly....it's a fare swap I feel for free board and an on demand taxi service.

Meg.

I wanted to buy a couple of Black and Decker garden tools. A friend had recently bought them through Amazon and the price was really good.

I now find that they are mysteriously unavailable for shipping to Spain (this is an item identified as being available from Amazon, not a marketplace seller).

On trying to source them within Spain via the many online sites, they are available but at a huge increase in price - (€160 instead of £80).

It is not a weight or other shipping limitation as I have found an alternative (more expensive) product available for shipment to Spain from Amazon.

My guess is that Amazon have been told by B&D not to ship to Spain as it is affecting their lucrative (Rip Off) business in Spain.

I know I'm in Italy and not Spain but I have got loads of stuff from Amazon UK sent to me here - from Lego to inline skates and even an electric hoover. I know other people have had things like slow cookers and bicycles sent.

Once you have typed in the product you're searching for, a menu appears on the left hand side.
Under delivery options - click on free super saver delivery and it will just show the for sale by Amazon products and not the market place sellers.

We have Amazon Italy now but it only sells a 10th of what you can get on Amazon UK. If I spend 25 Euro or more on the UK site, I get free delivery to Italy with a courier.

We needed new HP inks. HP themselves (on Amazon as sellers) would not ship to Spain but Amazon did, very strange bit of marketing.

Play.com have free delivery to Spain & stock pretty much all that Amazon do. Also check out ebay.es. Even if you can't read Spanish the website is exactly the same as the English version so you should be able to find your way around.

Just had a look at Play.com
I guess it depends what you are after buying.....there is nowhere near the selection of stuff that's available on Amazon!

I buy a lot of stuff from Amazon and I agree with the other posters regarding non-Amazon suppliers - their postage charges are insulting.

I had the following from Amazon only this morning.

'As an Amazon.co.uk customer with a billing or delivery address in Spain, we thought you might be interested in BuyVIP. BuyVIP is a Spanish language website offering products from well-known brands at great prices, but be quick as offers are for a limited time only. Visit BuyVIP.'

Have not tried them yet.

I just had a quick look.

It appears to be associated with Amazon.

The products appear to be expensive designer clothing etc - not a power drill in sight!
