It depends what sort of generator and how large.

Leroy Merlin have a reasonable stock of petrol generators that go up to about 6kw.

If you wanted something larger you could try a local large ferreteria which will be able to supply a buildding site type generator with a much larger output.

If this is for your sole supply of electricity invest in a diesel one and think about electric start so any one can start it, min 5kva so you can use washing machines etc , it may be better to buy one from the U.K and pay the shipping as they are cheaper.
