Jenson Button number one in Canada!
A brilliant drive from last to first and stuck it to the Kraut - marvellous!

Well done Jensen.

Thats got to go down as one of the greatest drives of all time, if not the greatest.
5 Pit stops plus 1 Pit drive through time penalty and 2 coming togethers.
Still way behind the tail ender in the pack at the restart with little time to go.
Not sure what the odds were at that time, but I wouldn't have given him a cat in hells chance of even making the top six or seven.
He then proceeded to carve his way through the entire field, driving like a man possessed, with a combination of determination, guts and a great deal of skill.
Interestingly possibly the first time Vettel in a superior car has been put under any serious pressure, as a result of which he cracked up and completely lost it.
What seemed like a race going nowhere was transformed into a one to remember for all time and possibly one for the record books and history books as well.
Oh and commiserations to baby Alonso who was left stranded on the kerb wondering what on earth was happening.

Yes, sat here watching it entranced thinking Vettel would get another win on the plate the wham he slipped up and Jensen was thru
Who says the Maclaren isn't up to the job - its all in the hands of the driver.
Seem to remember a young driver called Lewis Hamilton who used to drive like that a couple of years ago

Unfortunately they haven't all been operating on a level playing field for quite a while which is why the Red Bulls have a significant advantage as a result of the design of their diffusers.
It is expected that they will be brought into line in a few weeks time which might make for more interesting races, although unlikely to make much difference to the result of this years championship.

One of Hamilton's "incidents" at Monaco was caused by a Toro Rosso driver closing the gap on him. As Toro Rosso is the nursery and test bed for Red Bull I would imagine he got a good bonus for that. Seems wrong to have 2 teams from the same owners in there impeding other drivers.
Changes to rules are always made half way thru season but rarely change the leader board.
Looking forward to Valencia

Yes, good drive, but I'm convinced had the roles been reversed, Hamilton would not have been standing on the podium, the stewards would have seen to that.
Can't remember the expression "'racing incident' and have taken no further action."" used whenever Hamilton has caused an accident.

"The Stewards have concluded that it was reasonable for Hamilton to believe that Button would have seen him and that he could have made the passing manoeuvre. Further, the Stewards have concluded that it is reasonable to believe that Button was not aware of Hamilton's position to his left.
"Therefore, the Stewards decide that this was a 'racing incident' and have taken no further action."

I was quite surprised at how demure Vettel was, even to driving round the course with a female reporter, I understand he is normally very teutonic, doesn't open up to anyone. Webber is just a nice bloke

I obviously didn't suggest anything of the sort, but feel free to make it up as you go along. AFAIK, we're discussing Canada, not Monaco. I'm a fan of Button, and great to see him win, but I feel after taking out Alonso, and having that deemed a "racing incident", and then the incident with Hamilton, he was very lucky. Had it been the other way around, everyone would have been baying for Hamilton's blood.

Remember the stewards left their decision ref. Alonso/ Button until after the race was finished. This I believe was so they could apply the correct time penalty to ensure a Ferrari won if possible. However I also feel that they realised that had they in anyway demoted Button after that performance their lives would have been at risk.

A lot of ppl are saying the greatest drive of all time with which I agree.
If theres ever been a better one under such circumstances I'd certainly love to hear about it and I can go back quite a bit.
Sad that virtually no credit was given in the Spanish press that I read, only repeated rantings about aggressive drivers.
Par for the course I suppose.
Was there ever anyone more aggressive and even more dangerous than Schuie ?
He nearly did for his ex team-mate with one of the most deliberately evil moves of all time only last year, yet most ppl.seem to think the sun shines out of his R-sole.
I think the present pairing of Hamilton and Button is just fine.
They are both extremely competitive, even with each other.
I imagine they must drive their team boss to distraction at times, yet they both understand it is a highly competitive business and hold no grudges and it was good to see Lewis cheering on and applauding Jensen during his drive.
I see the great Stirling Moss finally retired from motorsport last week at the age of eighty something. Shame he never won the F1 for one reason or another.
He was always in the wrong car at the wrong time, broke down on a regular basis when leading races and also had a fairly serious accident or two which sidelined him for quite a while.
In any event he has always been a great credit to motorsport in it's many different forms.
