No way would I buy in Turkey (or any other so called emerging market). As for buying in Spain, I haven't seen many bargains in Mijas area (haven't seen many being sold either). It is only when people are desparate to sell that there will be bargains. I would not buy just now, leave your money in a high interest account (sterling) and rent. Rentals have dropped significantly. It has not bottomed out yet on the CDS.

Ah, the US mind games have been working well then.
Muslims have been around for many many centuries without the need of the US keepin them in check or bombing Brits, I`d be more worried about the US wagging war than Turkish men blowing up Expats.
Turkey is just as safe as any other country in Europe, you may be interested to know Bin Laden makes references to Gaining back Spain into the Muslim empire it once was for 800 years.
As for history Muslim culture is as intersting as any other culture in this world.

Well while I feel sorry for them it kinda serves many of them right, they came across, looked at the price and handed over the money. Just because the property was cheaper than their own country is not what it is about, they should have researched... many of those who didn't in the last few years will probably loose if they need to sell within the next few years. These people would have also contributed 'in some extent' to the astronomical, unrealistic rises.
There are already! I travel around most of the urbs between Benalmadena and Nueva Andalucia, it * shocks me * the number of homes for sale, many left un-maintained and becoming run down. It doesn't sink in until you see street after street with many properties having for sale on them, and thats just villas
That might be your loss thinking like that.... If I had 400,000 euros handy I know of 2 properties i would buy tomorrow, I wouldn't hesitate. There are still properties today that are worth buying, you just need to do your homework.

Rugbymatt.
If you have finished meditating, im waiting for the hamock on the French site.
Send it over.
Spain. Lovely place, but my friend has lost 1/3rd of the value of his place in the last 12 months. Wants to move nearer the sea, but cant sell his own!

I don't use a hammock, unless you are talking about my banana hammock?
