Business advisor

W are still looking for an english speaking Gestor to advise re the legalities and technicalities of setting up a business in Spain - we will be based in Moraira. We work in Portugal but from our UK base, and it means that we are covered by our UK legislation and insurance, as effectively the products are ordered from the UK and payments are made into our UK account. - does anyone have any info on spain?
Thanks.

Re: Business advisor

No, that would be fine! could you let me have his details and I will try to set up a meeting with him - we will be back over either this thursday or next depending on workload. I asume that the laws are the same locally in Gandia as in Moraira area. I think we would probably need an initial hour with him to establish what is required.

BT and I have been trying to sort out a spanish free phone number ! In the UK this takes 10 days.........! We will get there in the end.
Many thanks
Jean

You can also try your local chamber of commere for information in Spain they are known as Camara de Comercio.

They offer tons of free and paid advice.

Re: Business advisor

No, you do not need to be Spain based. BT arranged it for us and it automatically diverts all the time to our UK landline. We have done the same in Portugal and Ireland.

Re: Business advisor

sorry, it is not free! here is the girl i dealt with - it is not quick though!
Donna Martin

We have found that when marketing in other coutnries a national free phone makes a difference.

Re: Business advisor

Do you now, I can't remember - it is not too dear - you take the phone call or message and then ring them back on your own cheaper provider. We have a Premicell system here which is very reasonable. If you contact donna she will give you all the figures.

we are just setting up a small branch in Spain at the moment, - got some advertising booked, and now have to meet the gestor to make sure that we are compling with Spanish regs. In Portugal it is classed as mail order, as the orders are placed in the UK then despatched... hioping to do the same, then our current legislation compliance is sufficient.

Re: Business advisor

if you wish to e mail direct i can explain what we do if you like. Our business, which is fairly specialised, is mainly internet based, so we can work anywhere most of the time, which is rather nice!

Hi Jean

You could be a real find for me :) I lived in Spain for a year (2006) but back now in the UK and looking to set up an internet business. My target is Spanish and UK markets (female) and British expats worldwide. Would it be ok to have your email address and contact you for more information?

Many Thanks

Audrey

Use the email / pm link buttons to message, once you have achieved 4 posts .... not a good idea to publish email addresses on public forums ;):)

HI AUDREY

We would be pleaed to give you advice if you wish - Snip, did you read mitzy`s post ? - our business is aimed at the less able members of society,so i do not know if we can really help though. I am back in spain tomorrow as we have sourced an Gestotoria, thanks to British Expats input! going to watch the Wales/Italy rugby game, and hope that the landlords in the Bell will have this on instead of that silly game with the round ball....

Hi Jean

Thanks for getting back to me. I read Mitzys thread. I have only posted once prior to this so does that mean I have to post twice more before being able to PM you? That said it is your internet based experience I would like to tap into especially if you are targeting the Spanish market now. Once we can get in touch via email i would like to discuss it in more detail. Hope you get to see the game, my other half is a passionate Welsh fan and will be cheering louder than anyone.

Kind regards

Audrey

Re: Business advisor

What a result  Hope you got to see the game. It has put my hubby in an excellent mood :D He is trying to get tickets for the next game at the Millenium stadium. We were in Cardiff in 2005 and watched the Wales and Ireland final. Not so good for me as I was supporting the Irish :( but I wouldnt have it missed for the world the atmosphere was electric.
Anyway now to business. Can you please let me know if you are importing goods into Spain and how you go about it? Also how are your clients going to find you on the internet ? I lived in Spain for a year in 2006 and have since returned to do some research into the demand for my product. Can you let me have your website details so I can have alook. Are your customers able to contact you by phone and is there an economic way doing this? I am researching this at the moment and there is a mass of information out there but filtering it all is painstaking. I just thought some tips from someone actually out there doing it would be a huge benefit. I will be back in Spain in a couple of weeks and would like to sort out any adminastration etc then. I am considering displaying my online product at exhibitions and events held in Spain to showcase what I sell. Have you done anything like that? Any snippets of information you can give me would be very much appreciated.

Kind Regards
Audrey
