Default Burrrrrrrr......does anyone else live in a Townhouse?

Burrrrrrrrr...

It's so nice outside but in my house we gotta wear about 5 layers !!!!

We undress to go out.....go figure

Thinking of getting some thin electric wall radiator thingymejigs....

Does anyone know whether they are economic....as our electric bill is soooo high anyway.

Love where we live but hate being cold....not long now for weather to change but thinking of getting something in so next year won't be so cold.

Can't beleive that in August we were lying naked on the same bed, with a fan right in our face and still boiling...now we were 2 layers, SOCKS ( ), 2 duvets.....uuuuuuuuuuuummmmmm very attractive !!!

Just wondered if anyone was in the same boat.....or are you all lucky enough to live in villas with central heating..... jammers !!!

yes, but here right on the coast it is somewhat warmer, we only have a duvet on the bed, no socks, nothing like that, we don't have heating in the bedroom, we do have air con but don't use it to heat. Only use a single catalytic heater downstairs for 3 or 4 hours each night, today, first this year when it's t shirt time, even going out.

Mrs E, we're up on the hill behind you so its usually a couple of degrees cooler here, but we use those oil radiators you get in Carrefour when we need to. But today its fine and no need. Its those double thick walls you have

Hadn't noticed any condensation, although our neighbour does suffer from it quite badly with the same heaters. Don't know about how economic they are as we only started to use them last month

Yep. Just come in from working outside and it's about 10 degs colder in here.
These thick walls are great in the summer though
I don't know about the heaters as we have a wood burner, once that gets going we are well "toasty"

The wood burner only warms up one room...the rest of the house is fureeeeeeezing.....

Only a few more weeks! Not grumbling as I'd much rather be here....just wanted to make sure didn't feel like this next year !

Hi Mrs E,

We live in Torrevieja & the house is freezing, & we do have central heating & it costs us a fortune in gas bottles, we close the doors of the rooms that we are not using, we also have a color gas heater on in the large kitchen.

Trouble is with these houses is that there is no insulation so they don't keep the heat in, I am a cold mortal anyway.

We live on a large plot 4 streets away from the salt lake.

Glad when this weather is over. It is warmer outside the house than in.

Try to keep warm Mrs E

Obviously, no, moisture only produced by the burning of something, if that happens to an oil filled rad, then get out of the house damned quick

Aaaaaaaagggghhhhh ! I'll remember that!

I knew as soon as I asked the question, it was a silly one ...DOH......

Might look into how much those rad's are....the one we have takes AGES to warm up and even then it doesn't give off enough heat- unless you actually sit on it

Then you get a burnt bum !!! But hey at least your warmer

Aw mate...sorry to hear you're in the same boat .....not too long now tho ey?

We have a naya...and to reach the downstairs bathroom you have to go thru it.....fun when it pours down with rain...and fun when it's 1 degree

Have to wrap the kids up in the bathroom and run them thru...so they don't get too wet or cold. In a few months we will not be able to believe it was so cold.

thats probably why the Spanish sit outside in the sunshine - got the right idea if you ask me

our house ( adosado only 5 years old) is cold too - when its warmer outside I open all the windows to let some warm air through

forty eight euros for a 2000 kw type which is well good enough for a 15 x 12 ft room, from Carrefour, or you can get a 2500 kw one for about 8 euros more.

Mrs E, Our townhouse is in the hills, and yes it can be warmer outside than inside this time of the year. Some tips on how we have tried to stay warmer after the sun goes down, luckily we are south facing so days are not too bad.

-Draught excluder on doors and windows.
-Made some heavy curtains to cut out draughts on doors and at the top of the stairs.
-Invested in a good electric underblanket, can now look forward to going to bed.
-Hot water bottles can come in handy.
-We use the electric rads to keep the chill off the room.
-Do lots of cooking, then open the oven door.
-During the day, to stop condensation we open the windows to ventilate the rooms, and if we feel chilly we go on the roof and let the sun warm us.

Can't tell you how expensive the electric is as have had the house over 2 years and not had a bill yet, although we have tried. Mañana, mañana.
