Something which might be of interest is "Check status of extranjería process and send in extra documents" which in theory should show how the TIE application is going and should be useful for those police stations which want you to book a time for the second appointment yourself but don't tell you if your application has been successful or not. I guess someone will post back if it works (or not).

Oops, forgot. Any one of clearing your cookies before clicking the link, opening in a private/incognito window/tab, or switching the browser to reader mode after clicking the link should do it.
