Whatever you think but people have been travelling all the time. Fact is that since Brexit figures have gone up. Also in the news in February during lockdown and ferries continue to arrive.

They must be chartering their own ferries and planes then.

Do people from the UK need an international drivers permit to operate a vehicle in the EU as a tourist?

No, unless you have paper licence, not photocard.

Stena Line and other ferries still go as usual and as long as it's essential travel, people travel. Many also came before Christmas and just saying that I noticed more Brits. Back to topic.

If a British citizen is married to an EU citizen and everyone wants to reside in Spain then is it one of these that the British national should be after: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reside..._Union_citizen

Is it a difficult and time-lengthy process in Spain or is everything quite streamlined?

On a side note I am quite surprised by the following on the Wikipedia page: "So the card only confirms the right of residence, it does not create it. Even without applying for a Residence Card, a qualifying family member has the right of residence, although it may be difficult to prove."

Worth noting that this is also valid if a non-EEA citizen is married to or in a civil partnership with a Spanish citizen and they want to live in Spain. Unlike the UK pre-Brexit which insisted on making the non-EEA citizen and the British citizen go through the Surinder Singh palaver first.

Turkey, with the very "european-like west coast, welcomes people from Europe with open arms for decades.
Everybody can join the medical system for a very small price. We have a house in Spain and in Turkey and it is not excluded we want to live there on a more permanent basis. People are friendly and speak several languages.
And of course, prices for daily life are sooooooo cheap.
A detached villa with full seaview at walking distance to the beach cost 80,000 EUR .........

Can you live there for as long as you want without the complicated visa process that Spain has?

Turkey has a truly appalling human rights record , not a country I would want to support or reside in.

If you think Spain's visa process is complicated, scratch Turkey off your list now.

Can`t say I`m surprised , if I ever get around to retiring I think it will be on a modest motor sailer and a base in the UK.

You can buy a 2 year's visa for 150 EUR (Dutch nationality). When you have a house in Turkey and you are retired, then it is easy. Where we are, there a a lot of Dutch, Belgiums, Brits and Germans.

Buying a two year visa for 150 seems pretty straight forward lol
