That's interesting.
What I really like about the NZ Braeburn and Jazz is the really crisp, juicy nature. The Jazz is definitely better in that respect.
These days apples are kept fresh in a refrigerated special gas environment which works wonders for freshness. Gone are the days of wrapping Coxes in newspaper for 3 months!
