This from a recent press release from British Embassy Madrid: -
New opportunities to ask questions about Brexit in Alicante and Murcia 'In November and December, the British Consulate in Alicante is running a series of 17 events for UK nationals on Living in Spain and Brexitwhere British Consul Sarah-Jane Morris and her team will update residents with the latest information on Brexit and what this means for UK nationals living in Spain. Please see below for a full list of dates and venues. You will be able to speak to an expert from the town hall about your padrón and clarify how to register as resident in Spain under current rules. You will also be able to speak to local voluntary groups about the support networks that are available for UK nationals living in the area. If you have specific questions on residency paperwork or anything else about living in Spain and Brexit, please do bring them along to discuss with one of the members of the Consular team. BREXPATS IN SPAIN, affiliated with the British in Europe group, will also be attending to assist people with legal and financial advice and to update on their current position with striving to defend the rights of British in Spain. Re: Brexit Meetings - with British Consul (Alicante/Murcia)
They are all a complete waste of time as none of the official people there have the slightest idea of what will happen after Brexit, or even whether Brexit will actually happen!

Re: Brexit Meetings - with British Consul (Alicante/Murcia)
pwwm - suggest you complain to your consulate offfice in Malaga!
Yes I agree there are still a lot of unknowns but I think they are trying to reassure people and confirm current arrangements. Also if they did nothing people would also complain. This quote may also help explain their purpose: British Consul Sarah-Jane Morris said: "As the negotiations continue, the consulate will continue with the outreach events that we have planned across the Alicante area to update citizens. "I continue to urge all UK nationals living in Spain to ensure you are correctly registered and stay up to date with the latest news, by signing up for email alerts, visiting the Living in Spain guide on gov.uk and following our Brits in Spain social media channels, including on Facebook.” |
