Not withstanding the Brexit fiasco can you tell me re healthcare:- Does healthcare on the Spanish NHS with an S1 go hand in hand with residency or can the S1 give you inclusion without residency? Thanks

As the S1 is effectively saying that you no longer need healthcare in UK but require UK to fund your healthcare elsewhere it does go hand in hand with residency.

You can apply for "residency", it is actually being entered on the official register of foreigners, whenever you like although it is compulsory after you have lived in Spain for 90 days.
If you meet the criteria it can take as little time as a couple of weeks.
