Any chance of a link to any minutes after the meeting, or even a report on what was discussed by anyone on here that attends?

It will only be the same details that we can get via an English newspaper or TV news, & that depends on how you interpret that version. Also our Government can do a u-turn a week later. It's not often I feel sorry for the British Consulate but I suppose they have to be seen to try to keep us "informed".Must be old age that makes me a cynic!

Well, they are in a 'no win' situation.

But it is an opportunity for Expats to voice their concerns to ensure those in power understand the real issues.

But you really need to be stating the problems to the UK government rather than to someone who, most likely, will do sod all about the responses apart from spout platitudes.

No, IMO this is a very cynical attitude. This IS our conduit to share our opinions etc and the Alicante consulate staff have taken past feedback on board and reported back to Madrid Embassy and on to London.

BUT nothing will happen, the current UK government is set on a specific path and will not be shaken from it, the only way for changes to occur is if there is a general election in the UK and there is a change in the party running the country.

I must agree with Mikelincs. When I was in business 2 Consuls were among my clients ,nice people,so when I had a query some years later,I thought that was a place to go to get a reasonable answer.Unfortunately it was my experience that I only got waffle, once I was ultimately told,I think because they didn't know the answer,"not to get into a situation that annoyed the Spanish".Will that excuse my cynical attitude?

I take it that nobody has any confidence in the assurances given by the Spanish government then ?

The purpose of a foreign mission is to represent the government, not support the local immigrants.

I am one who thinks the Spanish Govn.DOES want to keep the assurances given but they can't act on their own.Maybe I have a slanted view since I have lived & worked here even before Spain joined the EU.Today there are many thousands of British business owners enjoying a good lifestyle & prospering in this country. For them to stay suits both parties.Mrs.May has too often done a u-turn on promises. In fact, here's a thought. This week she has been celebrating the "votes for women campaign, yet when we leave the EU it will mean British nationals ,who have lived abroad for over 15years,will not even have a vote in local Spanish elections. So any female in that situation once again does not have the right to vote either in her home country or anywhere else.
