Brexit discussions
Due to the fact that I was forced to intervene in yet another Brexit style thread due to members intolerance of others opinions I feel duty bound to set boundaries before further threads appear. So I have decided that in order for an intelligent polite and worthwhile discussion to occur there is a need for rules to be set down.
1. There will be no derogatory comments on leavers and remainers. What is past is past and no amount of your bickering can change this. 2. Be factual, provide evidence when possible. 3. Be respectful, no name calling etc Very simple basic rules which each and everyone of you are capable of keeping when in the right frame of mind, however, Brexit appears to bring out the inner petulant child which is no longer going to be tolerated. Any posts that do not adhere to these rules will be deleted. Members who repeatedly cause difficulties will be removed from the forum. Rosemary |

Re: Brexit discussions
Brexit is ripping friends, family and Communities apart. The longer it goes on,(drags on....) the worse it is getting.
There are plenty of Expat groups out there specifically set up around Brexit for those who are interested. (I am on two) Things are changing so fast, it's like a roller coaster. Why not have a vote to stop Brexit commenting on here, at least until all the unknowns are known and we can discuss how to deal with the ACTUAL final decisions and enactments. Round and round we go otherwise. Its becoming an unhealthy obsession. Worried as much as any other Ex pat as I am , it's nice to jump on here to see other life is going on. |

Exchange rates go up and done irrespective of Brexit. Yes, health provision may be an issue but I seriously doubt it. |
Re: Brexit discussions
Its getting out of hand again already, 'be respectful'....some people have no concept of the word.

Re: Brexit discussions
What on earth are you on about? Disrespectful - I think not! |

The other issue is misinformation, theres more than enough out there thanks very much. It's just my opinion, hold off until all the unknowns are known and the die is actually cast. We move forward on facts. With respect. |

Re: Brexit discussions
Well, there is only one Brexit thread. Which thread are you referring to? |

I'm very thick skinned and can take it but some of these guys take great offence at anyone disagreeing with them. Despite saying thinks like "I love my country' I was deemed to be a Brit hater and bigot. I find that very offensive when there is no evidence for it. The power anonymity gives people. I must commend this site (I only really use the Spanish page) in general though, very efficient and informative. Thanks. |

Re: Brexit discussions
Rosemary, thanks for the prompt reply. I didn't appreciate that different standards applied. I can now reply to the haters and bigots in kind!

Oh well, the gullible British public will fall for it and the powers that be will give them another royal wedding or a royal baby to get over it. I think Airmiles Andy's daughter is due to get married next year. How convenient. |
Re: Brexit discussions
Sadly Brexit has also given people the opportunity to express their views on immigration and immigrants/their faiths etc, its become a petri dish for racial intolerance and sadly my wife and I have lost a friend of some fifty two years because his now open views have become truly offensive.
When Scotland gains independence (and I don't blame them for now wanting it) the UK will be just a little island of no real importance or influence. |
