Hello all,
We are moving down to Alhaurin El Grande in July. We have booked a removal company to move all our furniture etc but would like to take our personal effects with us on the drive down. Does anyone know if it's possible to hire a box trailer in the UK and drop it off in Spain?

I doubt it, you would have to have a trailer of that size registered (ie red number plates)if it was to stay in Spain. That would mean a lot of paperwork.

Thanks, I think we might buy one and then try and sell it when we get down there. Perhaps someone might need one to go the other way

Good look with the move can understand what your going through as we are moving to Alhaurin this week and like you were contemplating taking a trailer.

We are flying out to take delivery of our furniture and coming back in a fortnight to collect the rest of the stuff after checking out the trailer limitations etc.

We haven't confirmed the exact timings yet but I think we will be without furniture at both ends for a few days. If we stay in a hotel when we get there we could perhaps just drive down with clothes and essentials. It would save us having to tow a trailer all the way down and the trouble of selling it later.

I know from experience that on the day of travel lots of things that need to go with us will come out of the woodwork and the car will be overloaded )
Having that trailer on hand would be really useful for last minute items. Good luck with your move, keep us posted!
