Re: BORING QUESTION

Don't know about Gandia, but if it's any help, we put petrol in today at 1.06 euro a litre in the town of Castalla where we live.

You're welcome  When we arrived here in May it was 1.10 but has come down in price. We use unleaded 95.

It's been my experience that you don't buy petrol by the litre, all the garages I have used in Murcia region you pull in and ask for 10/20/30 euros worth or whatever, seems no-one asks for it by the 5/10/20 litres

There are garages like that along the coast. We even stopped at one where you had to go to the pay desk first and pay, then put your petrol in :huh:

It is just how many euros you have in your pocket at the time.

In UK don't you ask for 20 quids worth?

Our last visit was a scream!!! Rental car from airport, pick up with full tank and return empty, I of course cut it way too fine and the car began to stutter, I had to pull off the motorway and ask for 3 euros worth of diesel, the look the guy gave me was an absolute picture:rofl::rofl:

Hi Bri and Katee,

Isn't this return empty just the most annoying scam. I like you always try my best to do what I have contracted for and you get very nervous on the return trip to the airport trying to judge if you have enough to get there but not too much to give them something they have not paid for.

Although you sometimes have no choice if given one that is the one I do not choose!

Regards,

John.

I agree - it is a scam!! As there are never enough petrol stations on the way to the airport to make sure you only have the teeniest drop of petrol left when you return the car! We once had half a tank left and hubby argued his case with the girl behind the desk - AND HE WON  They refunded us HALF the deposit :D We had rented through Suncars, I think they also go by Centuro.

Re: BORING QUESTION

Yes it seems they all have this little money maker running now. It's a tidy 'free' profit when you can sell petrol or diesel to customers twice over!

We usually book through Carjet and the two companies they have supplied us cars though, Europcar and Centauro have both done this take full and return empty. In fact back in July when we were last out the girl behind the desk pointed out that we should specifically return it empty as possible, so even the girls there know what is going on!
