I wonder what the decision would have been six years ago with all sorts of development going full steam ahead, rather than now deep in crisis with a million unsold new properties and no immediate sign of any great need for such projects ?

Yes, good news, God forbid that that coastline should become like the concrete jungle that is the Costa del Sol. Although there is a group, as the article points out,Salvemos El Palmar, that is still trying to reverse the decision to build near the lighthouse at Trafalgar.

Yes you have a good point there. I think a large golf development around Ronda was cancelled too. The spanish Government should buy up the last few bits of the virgin coastline whilst land is cheap, sort of like the UK national Trust did.
