Bin Laden

Re: Bin Laden
On one hand the Americans sneak into another country uninvited to carry out a hostile mission, which can't have well pleased the Pakistanis, in fact they'd actually put fighters up to intercept the choppers, but were apparently too late getting there,or else there could have been disastrous consequences for both parties.
On the other hand the Pakistanis appeared to be housing Americas number one enemy right next door to their own military HQ/Academy, and given the circumstances it's extremely difficult to believe they weren't fully aware of it.

Re: Bin Laden
I was shocked to see Obama and his team watching the whole show, live, from the video camera on the soldier's helmet. Releasing the picture of the watchers couldn't have been sensible. I wonder how long before the video appears on You Tube?
It made me think of all those war games the kids play on their PCs. Perhaps they're all real.

It looks like old Bin is gonna end up with more conspiracy theories than Kennedy.
I would be inclined to think they wouldn't try faking it under such bizarre circumstances, the only doubt being if it wasn't him or he wasn't there, they'd still have to go ahead and get themselves a body to justify the intrusion and cover their asses..
On the whole I would say they got their man.
They'd certainly have some egg on their chins if he suddenly popped his head out of a remote cave somewhere or released a new vid.

Re: Bin Laden
Five Asian men from East London were arrested today under the Terrorism Act outside the Sellafield nuclear plant and are held in custody. Their homes in London are being searched.
That's what we can expect as reprisal. I don't know what their intentions were but the location of their arrests says it all. A successful terrorist attack on a nuclear site in the UK would be the ultimate nightmare for the population of the UK and possibly the whole of Europe or indeed the rest of the world.
That's what it appears we are up against and our security services, and the government will need to take measures we've never had to take before in peacetime. Or at any other time.

They'd likely still not accept it if they saw the film and claim it's a lookalike.
There's nothing like a conspiracy theory, no matter how unlikely, to get some ppl. going.
Can't imagine they'll release the film of his shooting to the general public, though possibly arrange private viewings for various other heads of govts if requested.

Re: Bin Laden
It was obvious that house was not of an ordinary person, described as a "luxury house" but it looks more like a military compound. Seems most of Pakistan supports Al Queda but prefers to swing both sides and accept aid from the UK like the 650 million they are chucking at them.

The real fear (well to me and millions of others) is a series of suicide attacks on easy crowded targets like transport and pubs etc. Let's hope that the fanatics have seen it doesn't accomplish anything, and that their big enemy is really the US, not us. We're just the lap dogs, and it's about time we pulled out from interfering all over the world. Apart from anything else we just can't afford it.

Yet it's amazing how many ppl are denying it, incl many of those who lived close to his house.

Re: Bin Laden
He then turned his hatred against the Christian West and especially the US, specialising in killing innocent civilians. It's a murderous policy, but it works; we regard the deaths of our soldiers as being less emotive than innocent men, women and children, not that I agree.
Nobody has accurate numbers, but it is generally agreed that OBL radicalised millions of Muslims all over the world, including thousands in the UK.
It's early days but it could well be that the Asians arrested outside Sellafield fall into the radicalised category.
I'm not an expert, but from the evidence in Japan, all you need to do is turn the cooling water off.
