Beware of the rats !

Just a word of warning , I have today collected my car from the Volvo dealers in Cadiz after rats ate their way into the climate control system and made a nest in there ! The car was off the road for several weeks and the repair cost over 1500€ . . . We live in an area of Chiclana where there are many pine trees and the mechanics told me that mine was not the only car that they had seen with the same problem .

Get yourself a cat. Ours manages to cull rats incredibly well, eventhough he does leave them half devoured behind the sofa. Urgh.:D

The little blighters are known to be partial to the odd washing machine as well, one pesky little mousky ate the water pipe inside our machine, flooded the garage.

That was at the beginning of November still waiting for the part to be delivered but we have managed to perform surgery on the said pipe and it is holding it's own at the moment.

Woken in the night by the OH stating that the cats had got something. Went into the hall and they had cornered a live rat behind the settee. In a moment of sheer madness I just picked it up and threw it over the wall and it never bit me!

Re: Beware of the rats !

Don´t forget, in defence of the rat, that the tree rats out here are not the same breed as the ground rats in UK and they don´t spread disease or eat rubbish in the same way. Our cat caught one the other day and it had such gorgeous brown eyes and was totally different from the ones the cat used to catch in York. They live here in the palms/cypresses where they eat the fruit/cones and don´t often come down except to cross from one tree to another. The key is to keep the trees regularly trimmed and nests removed. I was told to think of them as closer to tree squirrels than rats so I actually now don´t mind them. Would you mind as much if a squirrel nested in your car engine?
