As of the moment I'm not aware of anyone receiving free healthcare under the new system. You still in all communities need private healthcare coverage for residency which in some areas can be replaced with CE after a year.

There have been reports of people who were on the Convenio Especial who have had their monthly payments stopped and are now covered free under the new law. So far the question of how it might affect registration is not clear.

True there are third hand reports but no first hand reports which is strange given the amount of persons affected

To be pedantic the article linked above doesn't say they were told they will receive free healthcare simply that they were refunded the CE. The writer then makes his or her interpretation of the situation.

Indeed Fred here in Andalucia many people have been accepted and as you say those with Convenio automatically got refunded and sent a letter saying they were now covered under the new law. I personally know three couples and two single ladies down here in the Sotogrande area to whom this is factually the case.

Yes it does as they were sent a letter saying just that.....suggest you stop spreading misinformation

Weird I don't see anything about any letter. It says after making enquiries he was told his CE had been stopped. It doesn't say he was told he would receive free health care.
Maybe I am reading the wrong article?

Yes if you read the Citizens advice Facebook page there are first hand reports here's just one example (avatar and name distorted by me for data protection issues) but you will see original on relevant FB site

Sorry Golfer but you accuse me of giving false information. Where is the bit in the link we were shown that says they received a letter telling them they would receive free healthcare? If you can't provide it the it is a bit hypocritical to accuse another of making things up

On topic and factual: to obtain residencia you need to provide proof of SS contributions or be in receipt of an S1. Failing that you will need some type of private healthcare coverage. Nothing new has officially changed
