Benidorm

Me and my partner are hoping to move to Benidorn. Could any one give me advice on housing and finding work. I work in construction, my main jobs being a steel erector and tower crane operator. Any help would be very much appreciated, thank you

The work situation in Spain is not good for Spanish people so foreigners will find it even more difficult to find a job. The construction industry has been the hardest hit so you would need to be fluent in Spanish in order to even be considered,

If you want a job, you should check vacancies online first https://www.indeed.es/Ofertas-de-Operador-de-grua

I may well be wrong but I think you need a license to operate tower cranes in Spain?

Hywel, think about it, the building industry in Spain is bad at the moment, thousands of empty properties available, you don't speak the language, you don't know the rules and regulations over there so ask yourself who would get the job, you or an unemployed local?

You have a great Welsh name mate

Hi,
I live in Benidorm and fortunately I don't have to work. I've sat and consoled many out of work construction workers, Spanish and English. The building industry local to Benidorm is still all but dead. Any vacancies go to Spanish workers first who will work for less than minimum wage!!

Benidorm is a great place to live if you don't need to work.

In fact, in some areas the building boom is back on - I can see 9 nine cranes from my kitchen window and not standing idle rusting to dust but working daily on projects building residential accommodation. But I am sorry boys I think your chances of finding work on construction sites are about the same as mine of winning tonights Euro Millones lottery.
