Bought 2 large Beefburgers 2x180gr (Vacuno) from Mercadona. Terrible, on the outside they look normal but the inside is like pulverised something, similar to the stuff that kebab places sell as beef but much much tougher and rubbery. You have been warned.

They were uneatable, RAF burgers were much better than those, not that I ate many in my few stints at their bases.
We didn't even give them to the dog, binned but not forgotten.

I buy most things in Mercadona but very seldom these days do I buy their meat. Since the days (long ago) of them having a proper butchers dept (OK I know they have reintroduced a sort of butchers dept) I have reverted to traditional butchers - surprising how many have opened (in our area, Alicante) since the changes in Merca!

Our local one closed about 2 months ago for a week for modernisation. The meat section changed and everything is prepacked now. At the weekend we bought Lamb chops, Ribs and sausage for the barbeque. The meat had no taste, only the sausage was reasonable. I think we will use our local Halal butcher for everything except the obvious, certainly his filet steak and burgers are succulent, tasty and cheaper, the only problem is parking about 5 mins away.
