Beds with Storage
Hi All
I am sure I have seen a thread on beds ...but can't find it...so sorry if I have messed up the system. I think we need to have at least 1 bed that has storage. e.g. gas lift etc.? Does anyone know where we can buy locally.... Also... those of you that have Duplex... I believe there is not room to put 2 singles side by side and bedside table in the middle in the smallest bedroom, is my memory correct? ... I am trying to furnish on a couple of viewings.... a bit difficult. I need to have beds that can be pushed together for couples and separated for the golfing guys.... I read somewhere about the style of bed best for this and the design of mattress that best fits together. Any help or tips... appreciated. Sandra and Stuart Munt |

Sandra and Stuart Munt We have learnt that sticking with two single duvets (or just the covers) instead of investing in a kingsize duvet and linen (which uses up storage space), is perfectly acceptable and even preferable in the hot weather as long as the beds are together for couples. |

Re: Beds with Storage
If your property is empty and unheated for the colder months I would be carefull about storing linen etc under beds.
Damp can be a problem and you could return to find musty and mouldy sheets etc. Keep you linen n a well ventilated area. |

Hi Sandra, we have a duplex and both our downstairs bedrooms have 2 single beds with a cabinet in the middle & there is plenty of room. We bought our beds locally but they are English so the bedding here is not the right size.

Bear in mind that bed sizes (and hence bedding) are different from the UK. We have 2 x 1 meter beds and mattresses pushed together - mattresses need to be square edged so that you don't have a gap. We have velcro straps around the legs for when the beds are joined together to stop them drifting apart - as they are likely to do on the tiled flooring when energetic sleepers ;) are staying. Select Superking sized sheets across the bed to help join them together. ISTR that you can get a separate joining strip if you want to go mad.
We have learnt that sticking with two single duvets (or just the covers) instead of investing in a kingsize duvet and linen (which uses up storage space), is perfectly acceptable and even preferable in the hot weather as long as the beds are together for couples. Thank you for getting back to us.. I like the idea of the "bed linkage" , and also in the past staying at a friends apartment the practicality of 2 single duvets works... . We find that using those sucky out vacuum bags perfect for storing linens over the winter months. Keeps them airtight, so no chance of damp or mustiness and massively reduces the space needed.

Re: Beds with Storage
Having mentioned dampness, we did have a problem with the cooker/oven as it was installed a number if years ago and unused. Dampness played havoc with a failsafe mechanisim and kept causing the unit to trip.

Good idea to air things like sheets out for a bit in the fresh air before using... Jon |

One the best inventions in ages, does what it says on the tin. Its great for space saving, but the best part for us is that its sealed from damp (and eg moths).
