Barcelona ideas

Hi all, I am off to Barcelona soon for a short holiday. Aside from usual touristy stuff (I´ve been before but Mrs Poolboy hasn´t) anyone got any ideas for good things to do that way.

We just booked the cava tour in english (well pleased) & plan on touring the area as well.

Cheers

Only ever been to Barcelona once for one day so only really managed the tourist bus and of course walked the La Rambla so cannot really help. Barcelona is definitely on our list of places to visit so anything that you can advise on would be useful. What is the cava tour and how do you find the details?

unless you're a huge footy fan, dont bother with the tour of the nou camp.
personally i found it really boring, and i love footy.
you've got to do the sagrada familia - gaudi's church.
also, down las ramblas, theres a great bar called 'el bosque de las fades' which is like an indoor forest with rocks, streams, etc really cool, look for the signs to the wax museum (on the left) its up there.
the olympic port area and beach are cool too - lots of bars and restaurants.

all the above and if you in to walking there hit the hills off Barcelona , Vallvidrera is unreal veiws off the city , you could walk all day up there and see the hole city from a hight .
you need to get the FGC Funicular de Tibidabo to Vallvidrera and wall over to the tv tower and on to the park . here photo off mate tock last year , i think ,

For all you welshmen The main gay area in Barcelona is called L'Eixample or Gayxample, but let's start at the beginning. The beginning being the street everyone first heads for in Barcelona - Las Ramblas. It runs from the port, to the center of town, stopping just a few streets short of the gay village and is famous for Barcelona's best street performers. It's a constant highway of people walking up and down it to see it's many visual delights. A word of warning though, it is a favourite spot for professional pick pockets, never put your wallet in your back pocket and don't leave anything unattended, even for a second. When the sun sets is when Barcelona really comes to life. After a hot day, the boys come out to play and the girls ! Barcelona's gay scene is lively and stylish but remember in Spain you don't go out to eat until 10pm, the bars don't get going until midnight and the discos don't even open until 3am, so get some sleep in before you go out because you will be out all night drooling over those gorgeous Catalonian boys and girls. :o
