Barcelona - Cost of living
Can anyone give me any idea on the cost of living in Barcelona? Will it be higher than other places with it being a city, or is it about the same?
I am considering applying for a position in Barcelona , but obviously I want to be sure I can live on the salary (I'm still living in the UK at present). Is there an easy way of equating a salary in euros against a British salary in GBP, taking into account the differences in living costs, if you know what I mean. The job I am looking at only pays 16000 euro's, I know the cost of living is supposed to be lower, but if I were to say this would equate to the equivilant of 16000GBP for a job in the UK (taking into account the cost of living differences) would I be any where near, or am I way off?
Anyone have any ideas?
Also, does anyone know of a good source of reasonably priced long term rentals in the area?
many thanks

I don't know about cost of living. I'm planning to move to Barcelona too and have been looking for places to rent using the following websites:
www.yaencontre.com
www.loquo.com
I'm flying to Barcelona next week to visit some flats, I'm wondering how difficult it would be to rent without a job there.
Anyway, good luck!
