Banks

Hi everyody,

We are going to move to Spain in a short while. I have a queston, my Spanish lawyer told me that some Spanish banks are charging for "intake" of foreign money? Is this true? I would be receiving money from the UK or Germany, in both cases in Euros?
Could somebody advise me which are the best banks in the Malaga area? Has anybody got experience with "Deutsche Bank"?

Thanks for any help!

Hola

Yes I use Deutsche Bank; free banking so long as you put in 600€ a month and have two direct debits a month. I have put money into it - transferred over to buy a car - I used a currency broker, and no charges

I know that if you transfer a large amount of Euros into Spanish Banks there can be chargesif memory serves me right over 50,000? I know when I paid my mortgage off the money transfer was split into 2 by the exchange people I used to get around this fee i,.e. 20,000 and 30,000 etc. For normal smaller transfers in I have never been charged to pay it in.

Thanks, I am not sure whether this has to do with the EU money laundering law?
I think transfers of or over 50 000 euros have to be declared. I will call my currency broker!
But for everyday banking that sounds much better, I feared to have to pay a fee on each single pay-in. Cheers:thumbup:

Some banks do charge for depositing money into some accounts.

You really need to be careful which bank and even which account you choose as the charging structures are not uniform or regulated.
