Bank Repayments

In the summer of last year the administrator of our finca started taking unsolicited amounts of money from all of the people in my block. He then went out of business:sneaky:All of my neighbours have been able to reclaim the money through their banks. But mine Caixa Nova Galicia are saying I can only reclaim amounts for 45 days.Does anybody know if there is a law that covers all banks,or is it an individual bank thing?

Re: Bank Repayments

There are different (claim) periods for almost every type of payment. However, every bank has to honour these periods - it should not be different for different banks.

I suspect that the period for this payment was 45 days and that has now passed.

Dave, yep it is a bummer.
They are correct. If the "domiciliacióon". In theory that chap can still take money from your bank account. Close the domiciliacióon ASAP

BTW the Caixa Nova Galicia doe not exist any longer. New name is Novagalicia Banco.

If you mean a different rule for foreigners (extranjeros) then NO, that would be illegal.

Are you sure that you have 'got in' within the allowed period?

I agree with the other poster about him still being able to re-submit the debit - just reclaim it again and ask the bank to stop all subsequent debits from that source.

With my bank there is an option to view / modify / cancel direct debit authorisations on line.

That was a tongue in cheek comment, but it does seem odd (if true) that my Spanish neighbour have been able to claw back their money.Galicia have over the last couple of years gone from being (in my opinion) one of the best banks to possibly the worst. They try to impose sneaky little charges, and when I go into the branch to ask what they are they repay them (some have been as little as .60c).I asked in the branch what they were and was met with a shrug of the shoulders;)
