Anyone recently opened a bank account in Gib? I `d like to open an account with an online banking facility,any recomendations?

The only real one worth looking at as a non-resident is Natwest. Just make sure you take anything and everything with you, I swear to god I have been there about 4 times now, and every time they send me away to come back with something different. Maybe they are trying to be like Spain I don't know.

You need for example, passport, ID, household bills, rental/purchase contract, payslip, employment contract and probably more I have forgotten!

But the Natwest current account has online banking anyway.

why dont you just keep your uk account and cards and just change the address to your spanish address.plus that still gives you online banking.If thats any help.

I only have a savings account in the UK ,the main reason for Gib is its handy should I need tio visit the bank in person ,plus I dont have much confidence in Spanish banks, I know two people who have had there accounts frozen and funds taken by the tax office ,only to be told in both cases it was an error, it taken them weeks to get it sorted.

I tried to open a current account in Gib not long ago for the sole purpose of maintaining one little direct debit that I needed to go into the UK (I don't have a UK account). At that time almost all of the banks were asking for a minimum balance of 5,000 GBP or 10,000 GBP just for a CURRENT account!
