We have an account in Spain
But find it impossible to communicate with them

They no longer exist - they have been bought out by Santander.

They may have been taken over but the bank still exists! My internet account and the actual physical bank in my town still have BPE as their logo!

As I understand Banco Popular were bought out (rescued) by Santander but continue to operate under the name.
