Surprised if you can grow them in the peninsula.
More suited to the milder Canarian climate where temp never drops to freezing. The main fruiting part is the female so I would think the small offshoot is the male part. |

There are a couple in our village also some in Benidorm. Haven't seen them wrapped in sacking though :confused: Thery seem to be thriving.

Certainly grow here on the costa, and produce fruit, albeit very small. Suggest you go to your nearest garden centre and expalin what you want, many of those sold are only ornamental.
