Hello me darlings, I be going to ask you a question on growing things. Bananas!!
How be the best way to grow theses beauties.
How do oi plant them and how do I maintain the buggers.

My banana palm, beautiful in September, even threw a baby at the base, is now a brown dried up weatherbeaten wreck - guess who didn't wrap it in sacking:mad:

Surprised if you can grow them in the peninsula.
More suited to the milder Canarian climate where temp never drops to freezing.

The main fruiting part is the female so I would think the small offshoot is the male part.

There are a couple in our village also some in Benidorm. Haven't seen them wrapped in sacking though :confused: Thery seem to be thriving.

Yes, but I'm up in the montes.....900m! (I know, I know, expecting a banana palm to thrive is asking a bit much but it was fine & I was planning to mollycoddle it thru the winter..):rofl: Still, it came back last year so 2010 I'll report back!

Certainly grow here on the costa, and produce fruit, albeit very small. Suggest you go to your nearest garden centre and expalin what you want, many of those sold are only ornamental.
