Good afternoon,
We are a couple with two kids less 10 and now we are living in Tarifa, an area characterized by very friendly people. Our child currently go to te Spanish school here.We are interested to having some info on the area of ​​Ayamonte-Isla Cristina-Islantilla and surrondings to consider to move in an another place to live for a couple of years. We know very well the cost line from Sanlucar to Tarifa but we don't have much info on the coast of the province of Huelva. We visited Ayamonte-Isla Cristina-Islanyill-Villa Real only for 1 day last year. What are the negative aspects of the area? Safety or level, medical center, swimming pool, Cinema theatre, in function? tranquillity and summer life, things to do in winter and other useful info to understand if is good place to live and raise a chikd for some years. Thanks to who give useful info. Cheers...

I guess that posting on the sub-forum mainly used by aficionados of Ayamonte who have bought houses here or visit regularly you are not likely to get many negatives! ;)
The area is pretty safe with only a low level of petty crime. There is a municipal swimming pool, a state medical centre and a private medical centre. There is a theatre but Brits who want the cinema usually go to Portugal - Tavira or Faro - as many films are shown in English with Portuguese subtitles. It can be quiet during the winter season but as Ayamonte is not a 'tourist' town most businesses stay open all year, although restaurants may have a long winter break. In summer there is, of course, an influx of visitors but it never gets overwhelming. The beach is endless and manages to absorb most visitors easily. If there is a downside (although I see it as a benefit) is that it is a bit 'at the end of the line' in Spain. However, the upside is that just across the border is Portugal and the Algarve with a whole different culture and gastronomy to enjoy.

Thanks very much Mike, we are particularly interested in the safety level of the area especially in low season and the emergency health system.
Language is not a problem because we speak well now also Spanish. Anyway we will visit the area in the next weeks, we believe for the Carnival. Only 3 hrs drive from here.

If you mean the main parade-it starts at 4 pm on Sunday 18 February; however there are numerous events throughout the week leading up to it plus other events already on going.

Hi

We are looking for a cobbler in Ayamonte/VRSA area. Something more 'traditional' - not something like a Timpsons in the UK.

We had a fantastic one next to the great Plaza Leon Ortega, but sadly they left.

Also a 'seamstress' - again a few years back the lady above the market left.

Any recommendations, please?
