Re: Ayamonte Carnaval 2014
Here's a video of last year's Domingo de Piñatas (the first Sunday following Ash Wednesday (Miércoles de Ceniza) - I wonder if any sweets were to be given up for Lent? ;)) filmed in the "carpa" or tent outside the Teatro Cardenio (located in front of the Central Market.)
http://vimeo.com/60211350 The "revoltijo" appears to be a fried potato/?scrambled egg offering free to anyone. Stop by a cafe and watch what happens. So, in answer to your question, Jon, the "Piropo a mi Pueblo" on the 8th March is, I'm guessing, an eulogy to Ayamonte. A "piropo" is a compliment ("sweet talk"). Taking place at Paseo de la Ribera, and any fundraising collection will go towards the charity Cáritas. The 9th March is the Fifth (V) edition of the Revoltijo (see above), t be followed by a prizegiving ceremony for best act/costume/parade. |
