Many migrants come from war town areas like Syria and areas suffierng from famine.
Anything is better for them than being blown out of their beds by warring factions.
I think you´ll find that only a small proportion end up in cannabis farm or a brothels.
The black economy in which these migrants work is extensive and most do safe jobs but for very low pay.

Notwithstand, with Aukus, the French will be rolling around laughing as the migrants make their way to the UK.

Well that was a predictable deflecting response. My comment about asylum seekers was somewhat tongue in cheek but none the less true. They dont leave their war torn country and travel direct to the UK but transit many “ less suitable countries” before trying to cross the English Channel for example. I dont recall quoting figures so didnt need a lecture or correcting.

so what about a European defence for us living in the EU? How is that going?

Haven’t we passed a bill saying we can turn the boats around now when they enter UK waters. Who cares what the French. They always have and always will do all they can to disrupt the UK. Even if we were still in the EU. It’s mad how they are still salty over wars that happened nearly a 1000 years ago.

I tried to avoid this thread as it's got nothing to do with British expats in Spain but you guys need to understand the difference between a migrant, an illegal immigrant, a refugee and an asylum seeker before you become honorary members of the EDL or BNP. Most of us on the expat forum are migrants, the trolls are just pretending to be migrants and the over stayers are illegal immigrants An asylum seeker is someone who fled their country, seeking asylum to become a refugee for 5 years before gaining their ILR. The stats above refer to migrants (that's us, on the whole), not refugees or asylum seekers. The biggest hosts of refugees are the countries surrounding the refugees countries of origin (Turkey, Pakistan etc.) but Brexiteers and nationalists don't like to hear that.

You'll see more illegal immigrants being caught and pushed through the system now because the UK needs to process them as refugees to get them working in tax paying jobs since they shot themselves in the foot with Brexit. This cut off seasonal workers, essential to the agriculture sector. Before Brexit they just turned a blind eye and let them enter the black market as illegals or left them as asylum seekers also working the black market. The knock on effects of this will be higher tax receipts and higher prices at the supermarket.

And yes, you'll still get your turkey this Christmas. It will be raised in the EU and processed by the same people that used to do the same work in the UK. The difference is all of this economic activity will happen in Europe. They may even have Bernardo Matthieu branding just to rub some Euro salt in to the wounds.

To answer your point, on a day-to-day basis this alleged snubbing of the French and their apparent outrage will not make a jot of difference to our lives in Spain.

However, with the backdrop of Brexit and now this Aukus business, this unfortunately represents a further deterioration of relations between the UK and EU countries.

This further souring of relations will not improve the chances of resolving the many issues for expats that arose out of Brexit, be they in Spain or elsewhere in he EU.

Nope they haven't passed a bill. It was simply PP drumming up some Brexiteer PR as a way of deflecting from .ore domestic problems

Yikes, I didn’t realise we were living in Stalin’s Russia or China where censorship was in full swing…

‘Brexiteers’ have morphed into ‘Brexit Deniers’.

Brexiters promised ...
  • Cheaper food
  • Cheaper energy
  • Less red tape
  • Control of our borders
  • Better for farmers
  • Better for fishermen
  • A free trade deal with the USA
  • A better deal with the EU
  • No border in the Irish Sea
  • £350 million a week to the NHS.... Oops no...

When did it become a ´social crime´ to discuss the history of our nation?
