All that northern coastline is stunningly beautiful (so long as you avoid the odd industrial town). So long as you don't mind a bit of rain from time to time!

The slogan for Asturias is "paraiso natural" and it is an absolute paradise! It is a joy to behold, the mountains, the coast, the cities, the small villages, the cows, the cider, the food, the people

...but dont tell anyone (shuh!). Dont want it spoiled anymore than is has been already.

Beautiful part of the World, from the lovely countryside to the friendly people.
Dont think we need worry too much about the Costa crowds getting up there,
Most dont even know what a cow is,...let alone a drop of good cider!........;)

For us we can find something going for it, right from The Basque country right through to Galicia. We prefer the countryside to the coast. That is not to say there are some gorgeous parts of the coast too.
By the comment about all of the rain is over the top.:(

I was in Galicia for 4 days in June on holiday - it didnt stop raining the whole time! :rofl:

The average rainfall of Asturias is higher than in the UK, but when the sun comes out you can easily forget the rain

You must have choosen the wrong 4 days then:blink:...besides the coast of Galicia gets far more rain then inland.
Where did you get the rain fall figs. from?

We were all over the place. Santiago de Compostella, las rias baxas and Vigo
The rain still didnt detract from the wonderful marisco :) I've spent months in Asturias and I can tell you it likes to rain. I spent a week on holiday in Los Oscos and again, it didnt stop!

There is no one website I could find that provides rainfall info, but if you do google and wikipedia searches you can get the info you need. Far as I can tell, Galicia and Asturias get between 1000mm-2000mm of rainfall annual depending exactly where you are. This compares with 650mm in London.

Although London is actually a dry city, as wikipedia will tell you (and I can confirm after living there for 5 years).

Been here 5 weeks now, and there have been at least five dry days -possibly six! But we are on the coast, and the village tell us this is the wettest they can remember
But it IS lovely. Stunning scenery, superb seafood and vegetables, friendly people. We still love it. (Early days, I know). People keep telling us the weather is drier, warmer, more consistent a bit inland - but the scenery here is just out of this world. Keep meaning to go to Asturias, but somehow never seem to find the time...

For us living somewhere gives you a better feel than the figures and statistics speak. But if you lived in say Manchester then you may have thought that Asturias is quite dry.
The areas you went on vacation are coastal; so rain or even mist could easily be the rule.
Inland of Galicia there are more native trees rather than the fire starting Eucalyptus trees.
