Default Astra 2F - In Spain - Can You Receive It ?

I am opening a thread on Astra 2F.

Basically, post your reception of the satellite with details, as much as you can so we can find out which place gets signals and on what size dishes .

Most of us know that the 5`s have gone for those of us in Southern Spain but there could be someone who might be receiving !

I`ll start with my stats :

- Location : Granada Capital

- Dish Size ( Make Opcional ) : Generic 1.35 m (high) x 1.25 m (wide)

- LNB : Inverto Quad Black Ultra 0.2 db

- Reception : Good Signal - Zero SNR ( Signal to Noise Ratio )

The important bit is the SNR if this is ok and each receiver is different you should get the 5`s i.e channel 5, 5 USA etc on 10.964 H 22000 5/6.

I can`t get the 5`s at the moment as my SNR is zero !

Most of this has already been covered in a thread on here already:
http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=765412
Starting at Page 6 covers the 4th Dec when the few frequencies moved from 1N to 2F....

And there are already maps that plots dish sizes and reception of 2f...

https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid...9153,39.506836
pins no reception, circles have reception - colours represent different dish sizes - as per menu on right of screen

with 16 pages of discussion and reception reports at:
http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/t...cs-discussion/

Basically 2F can be received on 1m dishes between Valencia and Torrevieja.
(in fact i can 2F channels on my 80cm dish)

Other areas require bigger dishes.
Areas like Catalunia that was fine using 80cm and 1m dishes, now need 1.8 or larger.
Costa del sol dont get 2f on their 1.25m dishes, and need much bigger.
The question is how much bigger - 1.8, 2.4, 3.1....
But will anyone really upgrade to a larger dish NOW, when it may be best to wait until mid this year when the rest of the channels move from 1n to 2e....so you know exactly what sized dish you need for these channels as well....?

I opened this thread so people could post their dish sizes and reception results - plus location !

You only need to post that nothing else.....

It is to see where Astra 2f is being received.

That last link you gave was good and is the kind of info I am looking for the posts in this thread.

I actually joined that forum 2 days ago and is slightly more technical than this one but there`s no harm in getting people to post their setups !

I'm not technically-minded at all - but doesn't the second link that The Guy put in his post show what dish size is getting what kind of reception & where

No, that map is too generalized . Just asking for you guy`s to give :

- Dish Size
- Lnb
- Location
- Reception

If the good people of the forum could give those stats it would be incredibly helpful.

Well as you haven't had any other responses - yet here are my answers....

Location Northern Granada Province-
Reception N/A

At this moment I am living in a rental whilst looking for a property, but manage quite happily with the offerings of Spanish TV Free to View on a TDT, and don't have HD either
Unlike some I don't spend all day watching catchups of Corrie etc, just so long as i can get a film most evenings or things like Bones, NICS LA, etc then it isnt a problem
and the adverts are helping me with my Spanish

my telephone & broadband come courtesy of a dish from a radio mast in the next village
so at even a lower level than most parts of the UK but loving it

kind regards

I don't agree. There are people on a specialist forum with much more information on this subject who are doing a great deal to correlate and promulgate this information to all who are interested.

They have already posted a detailed map of coverage in Spain.

If anyone wishes to add their own reception details I think they should make that information available to them at

http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/t...ussion/page-16

I have submitted a reception report to them.

As has been posted before the reception map can be accessed at

https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid...9153,39.506836

This map is continually being updated and is probably the best source of information available at the moment from anywhere on the Internet.

I do not feel that anything will be achieved by duplicating this information on this site.

As a result I am closing this thread.
